Kinsey is often regarded as the most well-known figure in the field of sexology, which is why we decided to divide our section on sexuality up into “pre-Kinsey” and “post-Kinsey.” This section focuses on the early pioneers of sexology, whose theories and works later influenced Kinsey and the other sexologists of the mid to late 20th century. There were many researchers to choose from, but I went with these four (Hirschfeld, Bloch, Krafft-Ebing, and Freud) because of the vast influence they had not only on sexology, but on psychology as well.
